How Many Liters Are in a Bathtub? A Visual Guide with Photos (50L to 300L)
Have you ever wondered exactly how many liters of water are in your bathtub? To find out, we actually filled various tubs with water ranging from 50 to 300 liters and took photos to show the water levels.
When using bath salts or bubble baths, you often see instructions like, “Dissolve one packet in 180–200 liters of warm water.” However, it is hard to visualize how high the water should be to reach 180L or 200L just by looking at the tub.
In this article, we use bathtubs of different sizes, shapes, and types to show the actual volume in 50-liter increments. Please use the photos of the tub closest to yours as a reference.
General Guideline:
– Standard Single Tub: Filling it 70–80% full usually equals about 160–200 liters (approx. 42–53 gallons).
– Large or Double Tub: Typically holds about 250–300 liters (approx. 66–79 gallons).
*Note: Modern tubs come in complex shapes, so these are approximate values.
You can calculate your bathtub’s capacity by measuring its volume (Length × Width × Height). For example, if a tub is 50cm long, 80cm wide, and 60cm high:
50 × 80 × 60 = 240,000 cm³
To convert this to liters, divide by 1,000, which gives you 240 Liters at full capacity.
While this isn’t 100% accurate since tubs aren’t perfect rectangles, it serves as a great estimate.
